BC STUDENT HEALTH CONSORTIUM

The BC Federation of Students helps operate health and dental plans at campuses across British Columbia to ensure students have access to high quality and affordable health and dental coverage, life and accident insurance, and legal assistance. We also work to establish discount networks to help you save more on dental, vision care and prescriptions.

The Federation works with Green Shield Canada, Canada’s leading not-for-profit insurance provider to offer students coverage on prescription drugs, dental procedures, paramedical services and vision care, among other things. In working together to manage health and dental plans for our members, we can ensure that students are getting the most coverage for the best rate.

NO LONGER A STUDENT?

Will you be continuing your studies next year? If not, don’t leave your extended health and dental benefits behind! Once you leave school you’ll no longer be covered by your students’ union’s health and dental plan. But don’t worry, your students’ union, the British Columbia Federation of Students (BCFS), and Prosum Health Benefits have partnered to offer affordable health and dental plans that you can access after you’re no longer a student.

The individual plans allow you the flexibility to choose your level of coverage and more importantly find coverage that fits your budget. There are no long-term contracts which means once you get coverage through an employer or if you choose to continue your studies you can cancel your plan with 30 days notice.

If you will not be returning, your coverage from your students’ union benefits plan ends 12 months after the start date of your program; once your coverage ends, you will have 90 days to apply for a GSC Health Assist plan. Click here to learn more about the plans available, or to start your application. For more information contact Prosum Health Benefits.
