As the BC Federation of Students, we stand firmly against all forms of hate, discrimination, and prejudice. We are deeply saddened by the rise in hate-fueled anti-2SLGBTQIA+ rhetoric and denounce the rallies taking place in Canada.

These demonstrations are in protest of gender and sexuality education and supports in schools. It is crucial that we all speak out loudly and take action to oppose any action that threatens the rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ community members. If you are able to safely, join a counter protest in your community today to show support for the trans and queer community.

We want to reiterate our unwavering support for all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We believe that every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, deserves to live in a society that respects and values their existence. The 2SLBGTQIA+ community is an integral part of our diverse and vibrant society.

Our communities, campuses, workplaces, and our schools should be safe, inclusive spaces for all. The safety, wellbeing, and rights of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community are of the utmost importance; we will continue to advocate for policies and initiatives that protect and promote their rights.

Hate has no place in our society, and together, we will continue to build a future where love, acceptance and understanding prevail.

In unity and solidarity,

Melissa Chirino, Chairperson & Jessie Niikoi Secretary Treasurer, BC Federation of Students
